4.1. Adding and Editing Product Groups

Product groups organize the products you sell into groups such as Beverages and Food. You can create a structure that also contains settings such as which printer prints each group and whether it appears in the QR Menu. Understanding how product groups work is very important for businesses.

Use the "Product Groups" button in the "Products" section of the menu to list your product groups. Use the "+" button beside the list heading to add a new product group, or use the adjacent arrow to open a window and add a new variant group.

Variant: A term used to define size and price differences such as small, medium, and large for a product.

Complete the form opened with the "+" button beside the Product Groups heading to add as many product groups as you want.

Define the group name as "Starters, Appetizers, Main Courses, etc." You can also add descriptions to your groups. These descriptions appear in the free QR Menu we provide.

If you have more than one production area, you can also select the Screen/Printer on this form.

Cafes and restaurants with more than 10 product groups can create a hierarchy by using parent product groups.

The Order Number is a numeric value used to arrange product groups. For example, if you want "Soups" to appear first and "Starters" second, enter 1 for "Soups" and 2 for "Starters" in the Order No. field.

We recommend using numbers such as 0-10-20 instead of 0-1-2 to leave room for product groups you may add in the future.

Our system colors product groups according to their order. Because inserting product groups later will change these colors, you can choose colors that make sense to you, such as "Red" for "Red Meat" and "Green" for "Salad".

You can also decorate product groups with emojis. Emojis help new employees learn your product groups more easily.

If you want a group to be hidden, set "Visible?" to "No".

If you want a group to appear while taking orders but not in the QR Menu, set "Visible?" to "Yes" and "Visible in QR Menu?" to "No".

Add a New Variant Group

A variant product group is almost the same as a product group, but these groups do not appear while taking orders. Therefore, the form does not contain appearance options. Their order number defaults to 90 so that they appear near the end in the system. Because these groups organize variant information for products, such as a large option, placing them near the end makes the list easier to use.

The product groups we define are used to organize products while taking a new order and in the QR Menu.

Edit Product Groups

Press the "Product Groups" button in the menu to view your product groups in a table. Use the buttons in the actions column for each row to perform the action you want.

You can also add a product to the relevant product group from this page. Now that we have defined product groups, let us see how to enter products into the system from the Products page. Continue to the next lesson knowing that products can also be entered from this page.
