How to play
- The game opens each day with the same question set for every player, and seven questions are shared with you.
- Each question comes with a definition. Read it and complete the missing letters in the boxes.
- You have two tries on each question. If the first answer is wrong, the boxes stay open so you can try again.
- You can open a letter when you are stuck. The letter budget is sized for that day's questions.
- When you finish the game, share your score with friends and you will find yourself in a lively contest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do the questions change every day?
Yes. The set comes from the date in Istanbul time. However many times you open the page on the same day, you see the same seven words, and a new set arrives after midnight. Everyone playing that day gets the same questions.
What do the two badges above the boxes mean?
The first badge gives the origin of the word, so a check comes from French and espresso from Italian. The second badge tells you how to type it. A term can be French in origin and still take an English answer, while AeroPress is written exactly as shown.
How is the letter budget calculated?
You can open about one letter for every ten you will type that day. You may spend the whole budget on a single question. An opened letter locks in place, and the result line shows how many you used.
Where can I read the words I missed?
When the game ends the seven words sit in one list and every line links to its glossary entry. You can read the definition, the example and the related entries there.
Do I need an account to play?
No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no account or payment. Your score is kept only in your own browser.
