How to set a static IP on PAX A910SF Wi-Fi?

To set a static IP over Wi-Fi on a PAX A910SF, open the device FPOS network settings. Wi-Fi adds flexibility; for GMP3, Ethernet is the better choice. Follow the steps below in order.

How to set a static IP on PAX A910SF Wi-Fi?

What is a static IP?

A static IP means the device keeps the same address on the network every time. The modem or router does not assign a new address on each connection, so the link between the fiscal POS and the computer or Ritapos stays more stable.

Static IP and DHCP concepts

DHCP is how a modem or router hands out temporary IP addresses. When the lease ends or the device reconnects, a different IP can appear. With a static IP you lock the address yourself; the device joins the network on every boot with the same IP, gateway and DNS values.

Why set a static IP?

An address assigned by DHCP can change over time. When it changes, the integration may drop, the device may not be found, or the payment link may need to be set up again. With a static IP the PAX A910SF stays on the same address; you configure it once and the connection holds even after the network restarts.

How to set a static IP on PAX A910SF Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi lets you put the device on the network without running a cable. That flexibility helps when the counter moves often or cabling is hard.

Before you set a static IP, connect the PAX device to the modem over Wi-Fi. Open the FPOS app on the device. Tap Settings in the lower right and enter 0000 as the password. Then go to Connection settings, Network information and tap Configure.

The Wi-Fi settings screen opens. On the connected Wi-Fi row tap Settings, then Advanced. Enter the advanced options menu.

In IP settings choose Static instead of DHCP. Enter the IP and DNS details in the form. An address such as 192.168.1.10 and a gateway such as 192.168.1.1 usually work. For DNS you can use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

Ethernet or Wi-Fi for GMP3 integration?

For GMP3 (wired) integration, Ethernet is a better choice than Wi-Fi. The link stays more stable and payment dropouts are less likely. For Ethernet static IP steps, see the PAX A910SF Ethernet static IP guide.

Is a static IP required for PAX A910SF integration?

No, it is not required. You can also integrate with DHCP. Still, we recommend using a static IP on the PAX A910SF so the connection does not drop when the address changes.

Use it integrated with Ritapos

See which devices integrate with Ritapos and how on the cash-register integrations page. For PAX, open the PAX A910SF integration page and the PAX A910SF user guide. If you still have questions about buying a POS device, Ritapos recommends Inpos. For Inpos integration, click here.
