Food Safety QR Code Rules for Restaurants in Turkey

The "QR Code Practice in Food Businesses", widely known as the "Safe Food Code", became mandatory with an amendment published in the Official Gazette (Resmi Gazete) dated 08 May 2025, No. 32894. It applies to food retailers such as supermarkets, butchers and greengrocers, and to mass catering venues such as restaurants, cafes and canteens.

The Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry applies a "farm to fork food safety" approach across the country, aiming to keep food safe from primary production all the way to the consumer. With the QR code, consumers will also be able to see the official inspections carried out at food businesses with ease.

The Procedures and Principles of the QR Code Practice in Food Businesses were published and announced on 29 May 2025, which started the 60-day period for food businesses to meet the requirements. Since 28 July 2025, food retailers and mass catering venues must display their food business QR code where consumers can see it.

Print it in A4 (21 x 29.7 cm) or A5 (14.8 x 21 cm) size.

Hang it somewhere guests can easily see it.

For food production sites, the food business QR code remains voluntary.
